Butterflies on Stamps
1969 - 1993
Butterflies on stamps is a very popular topic world wide, and one of most spectacular. Because the butterflies aren't usually big, they can be shown on stamps not far from their natural size.

We start by a set issued by the Romania Postal administration on June 25, 1969, Sc. 210 - 2110, and showing different butterflies and moths. The stamps were designed by Vlasto.

You can find the Latin names of these butterflies in any catalogue, that's why we won't repeat them here. But these colors you won't find so easily.

Another, even nicer set was issued on July 15, 1985, Scott 3281 - 3286.This is my preferred Romanian butterfly set, designed by E. Palade.

On November 13, 1991, following the fashion brought by other postal administrations, the Romanian P.A. issued two quite big mini-sheets, They are classified by Scott under the numbers 3696 and 3697. Each sheet has 12 stamps, each stamp dusplaying the standard value of Lei 3. The designer was Mihai Vamasescu.
We show them here a bit reduced, in order to shorten the download times. With the exception of big yellow margins, the stamps are interesting and very colorful.
If you are a passionate "butterflies on stamps" collector, you will probably be interested.
