STEFAN LUCHIAN

    Stefan Luchian was born at Stefanesti (near Botosani) in 1868 and died, fully paralyzed, in Bucharest, in 1916.

    With the work of Stefan Luchian modern spirit successfully made its way into Romanian painting, triggering a new phase in its development.

    Though severe health problems confined Luchian to his studio during the final years of his life, he never gave up his attempts to improve and develop new means of expression.
